The Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, A.S. Beishenaliev, and the Regional Director of the KfW Development Bank in Central Asia, Dr. Andreas Schneider placed a “Time Capsule” as part of the ceremony to start the construction works of the new Talas Perinatal Annex to the Talas Regional Merged Hospital on 4 October 2024. This time capsule holds a message for future generations and shall be opened in exactly 100 years from now on 4 October 2124.

This works are carried out in the framework of the project “Mother and Child Care IX”, financed by the German Development Cooperation through KfW that aims to construct a state-of-the-art Perinatal Centre at the Talas Regional Merged Hospital in order to achieve significant progress in improving maternal and child health care in the region.

The two-floor, 63-bed facility will provide essential services, and includes:

  • Maternity wards: Equipped with modern amenities for the comfort and safety of pregnant women.
  • Operating theatre: For conducting safe and efficient surgeries related to childbirth.
  • Intensive care units: To provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies and newborns.
  • Auxiliary facilities: Such as laboratories, pharmacies, and administrative offices.

The project is supported by management4health AG as Implementation Consultant and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
