management4health just wrapped up a stakeholder consultation in the Maldives, which is one piece of a bigger effort under ADB Technical Assistance TA-10109 “Regulatory Policy and Capacity Building Training Firm“. This project is helping four DMCs (Developing Member Countries) – Cambodia, Kyrgyz Republic, Maldives, and Tajikistan build stronger, more resilient travel and tourism sectors after COVID-19.
The team met with stakeholders across the archipelago – UN agencies, the Maldivian Red Crescent, resort and guesthouse operators, a domestic airline, and a private hospital – to understand how health security, disaster preparedness, and sustainable tourism work on the ground.
The input from these discussions is already shaping real recommendations: fire-safety and capacity-management standards for the fast-growing local-island guesthouse sector, better evacuation planning across the archipelago’s dispersed islands, and stronger links between climate risk and public health. This is the kind of practical, on-the-ground input that turns a policy compendium into something tourism operators, health workers, and communities can use.
