Since 2021, mangement4health (m4h) is supporting the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic in implementing the project “Mother and Child Care: Perinatal Centres in Osh and Talas” in Kyrgyzstan, funded by the German Financial Cooperation through KfW Development Bank. The project is focused on the construction and equipping of new Perinatal Centres in both cities, alongside staff training and improvements in healthcare management.

As a major milestone of the project, a meeting with medical staff from the perinatal centres has been conducted by the local m4h team in Kyrgyzstan both in person and online on 10 June to ensure that the ongoing and future project measures will fulfil the needs of the staff.

Apart from committed healthcare professionals – including hospital managers, gynaecologists, neonatologists, and midwives – representatives from the Ministry of Health and development partners attended the meeting.

The meeting aimed to present the project’s baseline evaluation results, discuss the concept of accompanying measures, and plan future activities. The medical staff actively participated in the discussions, voicing their expectations and making recommendations for the project.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore further cooperation with development partners, including the Asian Development Bank, UNFPA, and GIZ, on issues such as telemedicine, joint midwife training, and improving laboratory services in the pilot areas.
