Dr. Doug Stevens, MDBoard Member and Partner

Dr Doug Stevens is a medical doctor and emergency physician, with over 35 years’ work experience, licensed in Canada, Ireland, South Africa and China.

Over the last 20 years, his career evolved into international health systems and organisational healthcare management, including leadership roles in senior management with major global health services organisations in the private sector.

Since 2010, he pursued an independent career as a corporate health advisor working for large global multinational organisations across a diverse spectrum including MNCs, IGOs and NGOs. His expertise covers health systems design and implementation, population health management, workplace governance, operations alignment, health programme quality management and audit, due diligence, and risk management within the health insurance industry.

He has additional training and expertise in workplace health and safety, emergency response and disaster management.

He joined m4h in 2020 working as a senior consultant under contract for projects funded by KfW and DEG, with a focus on health systems response to the Covid-19 pandemic within both the public and private sectors, across diverse regions including Guatemala, Nicaragua, South Africa, Eswatini, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Philippines, and Nepal.

His focus areas of work have expanded into support of health systems strengthening and capacity-building in Africa, including long-term vaccine security and autonomy in pharmaceuticals.
