Anna von Roenne has been a core consultant and team leader for m4h since its beginnings. In January 2024, she joined our permanent staff as Director for Strategic Communications and Dialogue.

Anna is a psychologist, psychotherapist, mediator and theologian who has worked in development cooperation since 1995. She lived and worked over 12 years in Malawi, Guinea, Pakistan and Indonesia. Bringing people together to deeply listen to each other, and to learn from one another, is her passion. The aim is to jointly generate new ideas and to take these forward so as to strengthen communities and improve lives.

In 2004, Anna invited health and social protection experts to collaboratively produce the German Health Practice Collection (GHPC), a series of publication which today comprises over 50 peer-reviewed case studies about GIZ’s and KfW’s work in health and social protection. In 2013, the GHPC evolved into the Healthy DEvelopments portal for which she continues to be the Managing Editor.

In 2001, Anna and her Guinean colleagues co-created the Generation Dialogue approach to address Female Genital Mutilation. Since then, she has supported the adaptation of the approach as author and master trainer to help address other contended issues dividing societies navigating between traditional and modern value systems.

For the past 15 years, Anna and the m4h communications team she leads have completed a broad range of communications assignments for health and social protection projects, developing communication strategies and producing articles, studies, podcasts, films, websites, reports etc. In addition, Anna has facilitated numerous conferences – live, hybrid and online – in Germany, Africa and Asia with up to 200 participants.
