managment4health is pleased to work with the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research based in Braunschweig, Germany on a new open-source tool to improve prevention and control of communicable disease particularly in resource-poor settings. The Surveillance Outbreak Response Management & Analysis System (SORMAS ®-open) is an early warning and management system based on flexible mobile telephone applications. SORMAS uses cloud technologies to enable countries with limited technological infrastructure rapid data exchange for outbreak control and early detection of infection chains and ensure continuous analysis of the disease situation.
After nine month of software development, SORMAS prototype was tested in 84 private and public health institutions in two states of Nigeria in 2017 and will be piloted in January, 2018 in one state (two districts) in Nigeria.
Our project focuses on project management and closely monitoring all SORMAS pilot work plan activities. The project aim is to ensure the pilot is executed in a timely and successful manner.
Project launch took place during the SORMAS inception workshop and training held in Abuja, Nigeria, August 22-25, 2017. The workshop brought together key stakeholders from HZI, Nigeria Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, African Field Epidemiology Network, and SORMAS users at the health facilities and district officers.
The project will run from August 2017 to May 2018.
