The Project for the Construction of a Mother and Child Health (MCH) Centre on the compound of the Balkh Regional Hospital in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan is entering now its 2nd phase. Last week, on November 19, 2016, H.E. Dr Ferozudin Feroz, Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, signed a contract worth 10.5 million EURO made available by the German Foreign Ministry (AA) through the KFW Development Bank for the construction of a new health care facility dedicated to MCH services.
m4h, partner with the engineering company SWECO in this project, contributed to this achievement. At the end of a period of two more years, a modern health care facility with a capacity of 300 beds will be opening its doors providing space and equipment for a comprehensive approach to mother and child care that will help effectively reducing maternal and infant mortality, both still at high levels in the country.
This is a significant achievement of the Afghan-German Cooperation, aiming at improved health service delivery as one important element of a sustainable socio-economic development in Afghanistan.
